The east side of Green Bay is one of the most diverse areas you’ll find in Green Bay proper – a melting pot of ethnicities, social backgrounds and more. It’s also a hotbed of creativity and art, from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College’s Artisan Center for aspiring artists to colorful murals and three-dimensional art adorning businesses’ brick walls and rooftops. Here, you’ll also discover authentic, international grocery stores and other ethnic cuisines to satisfy any craving. And for the kiddos (or the kid in all of us), the east side is home to nationally-known Bay Beach Amusement Park, Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary and the bay of Green Bay access. The sanctuary is a great place to reconnect with nature for meditation, trail walking and cross-country skiing; the nearby University of Wisconsin-Green Bay campus is filled with walking trails as well.
If meandering or chilling is more your thing, stop into The Attic coffee, tea and used bookstore in a character-filled building downtown (chess, anyone?). If Fido has extra energy, visit Whitney Park’s dog park, or simply visit to enjoy some peace and quiet under one of the old, shade-giving trees.
Wherever you go in east Green Bay, you’ll find variety. While Whitney Park Townhomes offer the downtown experience and close-proximity relationship-building many people crave, the Lake Largo neighborhood on the northeast part of Green Bay is a newer neighborhood, with most homes no older than 30 years old. There’s also a serene lake in the center of the neighborhood. On the far north side, there are neighborhoods skirting the beautiful UWGB campus, including Bay Highland, which is known for the green spaces between homes. No matter what lifestyle you seek, the east side of Green Bay has it.
