Allouez
Village of Allouez
Steeped in history and at the heart of it all
Allouez is known as “historically progressive” because we have grown from the place where Claude Allouez pulled his canoe from the Fox River in 1669 into a bustling village of proud residents and thriving businesses.
We’re fortunate to be nestled in between the Fox River and the East River and are surrounded by recreational trails along each river, providing convenient access to enjoying the outdoors year-round. We boast acres of parkland of athletic fields, kayak launches, playgrounds and cross-country ski trails for your favorite outdoor activities. Green Isle Park alone hosts everything from a Pooches and Pints event with craft beer and food trucks to Movies in the Park on warm summer nights. Beer and pizza aficionados will appreciate Zambaldi taproom and patio conveniently situated right next door to Gallagher’s Pizza – the best twofer that exists.
Our proximity to Highway 172 – a major arterial highway – provides easy access to surrounding communities so it’s a quick jaunt to downtown Green Bay, the shopping “mecca” on Oneida Street in the Village of Ashwaubenon or to head out of town. Immediately next door to this highway is one of our crown jewels, Heritage Hill State Park, a 56-acre, open-air living history museum offering a unique hands-on history experience. It’s not only a regular destination for families taking in the 26 historic buildings and activities, but also for young professionals. Sample beer and small plates from local restaurants at the Hops at the Hill event or stop by on Wednesday evenings in the summer for Music at the Hill. Lawn chairs and blankets abound on the hill’s upper green space overlooking Green Bay.
In Allouez, we’re proof positive that history is anything but boring.
